Banana Chocolate Bread

I LOVE chocolate. Who doesn’t? Actually I do know a guy who does but he is in absolute minority and I can’t take his dislike for a chocolate bar seriously. I still think he can be converted. I probably eat something chocolately every day but during the week I try to stick to a reasonably healthy version of it and that’s when this Banana chocolate bred comes in handy. It’s yummy, a bit healthier than normal banana bread and super easy to make. I like to eat it like on these photos, with Greek yoghurt and homemade blackberry jam. Such a good start to the day! I hope you’ll like it too, it’s not a mars bar but it makes for a sweet addition to the day anyway!


2 cups SR wholemeal flour

1/2 brown sugar or stevia granules

3 very ripe bananas, mashed.

2 large eggs

125 g melted butter or coconut butter

1/2 cup cacao powder

Raw sugar and cacao nibs to sprinkle on top

Put the oven on 180 degrees Celsius. Line a loaf tin with baking paper.

Mash the banana and mix all the ingredients together. I just place all the all of it in a bowl and mix with a metal spoon, no sifting of flours and no need to mix the dry ingredients if you don’t want to!

Place your banana bread mixture in the loaf tin. Top with raw sugar and the cacao nibs. Bake for about 50 mins, but check with a skewer regularly after about 30-40 mins! Take out when skewer comes out clean and let cool completely before eating or eat warm with “too much” butter”!
